The Soar Approach
The fitness and diet industry is a mess.
For every great trainer or program, there are probably 10 or more ruining people’s mental state because of the unbalanced focus on asthetic results. I’m not denying being fit, healthy and feeling good in your clothes is a valid and significant goal. The problem arises when it becomes the ONLY goal.
That’s why it all goes wrong.
Fad diets. Pills, supplements, weird eating protocols. Catch phrases such as ‘muscle is the new skinny’, ‘rise and grind’ (that carry on makes me want to puke).
I have no idea how crazy people are going to get, but my guess is very crazy. Because that latest thing I saw was water infused with fat…like why? Really why?! I can’t stand these silly fads and I have not wish to tell anyone how they should look.
However, I do want you to use nutrition and fitness to strengthen WHO you are, so you can live life at your potential.
I know it sounds a bit ‘airy, fairy’ compared to the usual fitness messages of ‘no pain, no gain’. That type of message is ok for some. It suits people who just want someone to boss them around.
Look, any trainer can smash you into shape. Anyone can yell at you, or cast a disapproving eye over your food diary.
But you deserve more than paying someone, to yell at you.
That’s why my approach is different. Because you are more, than your body, the weight on the scale or the size of your jeans. You have ideas, strength of character and values to share with the world…and I believe you must share them.
I’m here to help you get back to who you really are, by working together to find the pace to lose weight and get fit that suits you.
To do this, we’ll use the principles of The SOAR Approach:
The process which takes into consideration, everything else you have to deal with in life, as you progress through changing your habits to achieve your health and fitness goals.
THE 3 PRINCIPLES OF THE SOAR APPROACH
COMPASSION

Give yourself a break. As a self-employed woman, it’s likely you always come last in your own life.
It may look like you’re fine to outsiders, but you probably aren’t. You’ve got deadlines, budgets, people, children and family and friends all depending on you.
You are carrying a heavy load, so if you stumble, give yourself a break. Give yourself some breathing room and understand, how ever long it takes you to achieve your goal, is completely individual to you.
Don’t compare your progress to someone else. Even if you look similar in
physical stats, you’ve got completely different stresses, obligations, and life demands.
Relax. Have some compassion for yourself.
You will progress, at your pace.
COMMITMENT

Use the new knowledge to help you stay committed to
your reaching your goals.
Misinformation and terrible dieting advice can make you
feel like a failure, and be less committed to changing. I
mean, who wants to keep doing something that makes
them feel bad?
Being willing to follow good information to create an
‘environment of success’ around you, and commiting to
being as consistent as you can in the moment. Are the strategies,
which will instill the new habits and changes you want.
CHARACTER

Draw on your values to drive your actions. Your values give
you the internal conviction to go after what you want.
There will be days when you need to follow through and
have the discipline to take action – to do the right thing,
at the right time.
Use your values to drive you. See yourself living the life the
want. The life where you’re not sitting on the sidelines. Be
the person you want to be.
Live your values and your life will become what you want it to be.
YOU’LL BECOME INDEPENDENT
By using The SOAR Approach, you’ll gain life long habits and skills.
You’re not going to go through a ‘one hit wonder transformation competition’. Where I throw you into a rigid diet and training programme, which you follow, no questions asked. Sure, I could do that. It would get results…in the short term.
However, my job is to help you use fitness and nutrition as a long term tool – to reset your mind and reboot your body, so you continue to coach yourself long after we’ve completed our time together.
My priority is to make you independent from me. I’m here to share my skills and knowledge, so you free yourself from old thoughts and habits, and get on with achieving your mission and purpose in life.
Because once you unlock the power of your inner confidence and become your true self, you’ll live an even fuller life. A life that’s not held back because you don’t like the way you look and feel. That’s my ultimate mission, to help you feel good inside and out, so you continue to create an even more rewarding life. The life you really want.
So let’s make it happen! Choose your first step.
